gladys received her mfa in graphic design from the university of arizona in 2017. she holds two undergraduate degrees from northern arizona university: an extended bfa in graphic design and a ba in spanish.

gladys currently works as an experiential graphic designer at the national award-winning exhibit agency riggs ward design lc in richmond, virginia. she enjoys pestering the architects to double check her math, sharing her illustrations with the other designers and working on nature themed exhibits the most.

gladys has taught several university level design courses. most recently she served as an adjunct at the university of arizona for design studios 1 and art foundations design and illustration. previously she has been an instructor for design studios 1, typography 1 and 2, and art foundations mixed media. her work is carried by numerous prestigious artistic, academic and commercial institutions: ringling school of art, spaceheater editions, baylor university library special collections, wesleyan university special collections, ucla arts library special collections and vamp and tramp booksellers.

her work has been featured by adobe illustrator and aiga phoenix design week and has garnered awards from northern arizona university and the university of arizona.

her design work is typography based and focuses on micro-sociolinguistics and the effects of mental illness. In recent years, she has learned to accept and embrace her shaky hands, consequence of medication side effects, and uses the unique shaky effects in the creation of meticulous ink illustrations.
